WOLFVILLE, NS - The Axemen hockey team find themselves heading into a weekend of important matchups as the CIS #7 ranked team after Top Ten Tuesday announcement.

The Axemen pulled off a 3-2 OT-SO win over the #5 ranked Moncton Aigles Bleus last Saturday night along with a 7-1 win over the St. Thomas Tommies. The weekend winds now place Acadia tied for first place along with StFX and UNB with a 3-1 record after two weeks.

Notable performances this past weekend include a game hat trick for fourth year sniper Andrew Clark against the Tommies. Chris Owens picked up two goals in the same game. Also noted was a solid performance by netminder Peter DiSalvo against the Aigles Bleus. DiSalvo stopped both shootout attempts.

This weekend the Axemen host the CIS #1 ranked UNB Varsity Reds this Friday. It is parents day this weekend along with the Axemen's Hockey Honour Roll luncheon and honouring the inductees Saturday night at the hockey game as the Axemen host the UPEI Panthers. Inductees include Peter Goucher, Greg Clancy and Wade Whitten.
